About three weeks or so ago, I noticed that our dog, Kasey, had a bit of blood on her ear. Upon closer inspection, it looked like it could have been a bite or perhaps even a tick. There was a strange bump on the under side of her ear.
So the vet took a look at it and decided it was likely a bite (canine) and that the bump was ear cartilage that has been pushed nearly through her ear by a tooth. So after another $100plus vet bill, we fed her antibiotics, put salve on her wound regularly and kept an eye on her and Lucy to make sure there were no further altercations.
After a week or so, it seemed to heal. The vet looked at it and said it was looking much better but that the lump may always be there.
We pretty much thought that was the end of it. However, over the last couple of days, the wound had broken open again and was bleeding and oozing. We kept cleaning it and putting salve on it thinking this was just a setback.
Last night when Sid got home, he was cleaning her ear and the lump moved a bit. So he pushed on it a bit more and it came out into his hand. It was a lead pellet from a bb gun! Which means that someone shot at Kasey while she and Lucy were in our fenced back yard! They never leave the fence unless they are in the house, get to ride in the car with us, or go for a walk with us.
Needless to say, we're both very upset about this. I am glad that Sid figured it out and now maybe her ear will heal for good. He's put in a call to the vet to see if he wants to check her out again. Although, I'm dubious about going back to this vet since they couldn't figure out the problem after TWO visits. At any rate, I'm taking Tipper (one of our cats) in tomorrow for a check-up and I'll talk to the vet directly at that time.

How could anyone want to shoot at this?
