Well, except for the first one perhaps...but then, I wasn't around for that one.
We headed into the weekend with no concrete plans. My dad was going to stop by on Saturday evening to spend the night on his way to Iowa but aside from that we had a three day weekend full of not much to do. Which was fine by me, honestly. I spent Friday morning doing laundry and then hung out at MisKnits for a few hours.
When I got home, our former foster kids had called to see if they could come over. We said sure, had some dinner and then headed out the door to go pick them up. Sid wanted to bring Lucy because what dog doesn't love rides, right? Anyway, Sid usually drives the van when we go out so when he headed out the door with Lucy, I grabbed my purse, twisted the lock on the door and swung it shut behind me. As it clicked, Sid asked me if I had keys. Um, nope, I figured since he'd be driving and he was already outside with the dog that he already had his keys. So I had my knitting and that was about it. Oops.

Re: Facebook
Boy am I glad that this is blocked at work. I just spent two hours playing Packrat. WTF? Still, it's great to hear from people that I haven't talked with in over ten, er fifteen years.
Re: possibly shrunken sweater
He's lucky. No bail required. It's slightly shorter but still fits. I can live with that. Plus, I can always undo the hem and knit it a bit longer if I have to...in fact I probably will someday.
Re: Shakespeare
If you are remotely inclined to see Twelfth Night as performed by grade school kids than head over to the Plaza on Saturday evening. My 10 yo is Malvolio and my 11 yo is Olivia. (Actually, she's half of Olivia...not sure how that works - seems they are sharing roles). 5:30 pm and the stage will be set up between McDonald's and Anthropologie. It's part of the Literary Festival so we'll probably be shuffling about a bit early. I have to go by the Apple store anyway because of...
Re: Scotland
Nine days and counting. I need to pick up a converter so I can charge up my iPod while I'm gone. Also, arrange for cell coverage, notify the credit card company, finalize a packing list, and so much more than I can fathom at the moment. It's just now dawning on me that I will actually be out of the country for two weeks. I've never flown over an ocean before and while I'm not nervous, the thought is only mildly unsettling. Still, I know it will be a great adventure and I'm really looking forward to it.

Sick child, work is crazy, and feeling generally overwhelmed.
I'd say more than that...but I really don't even have time for this.

ugh, snow day and no childcare resources sucks...
I finished these a couple of weeks back and Yes, I am really really behind.

I made this for my older foster son. He's since had a birthday and is now twelve. I made them from Sockotta which I really do not ever want to knit with again.
Oh and in other news. We now have four foster children. Last weekend, the two sisters of our boys moved in with us. So now I have 12 yo twins, a 9yo girl, and a 6 yo boy. It's a little hectic around here lately to put it mildly.
But it's going okay so far.

Posting so that I can
A) Join in the bitching about the new LJ posting format. Which actually, now that I'm trying it...well, it's not so bad.
B) Whine about having no time to catch up my flist or blog list, much less post something myself. When I see people IRL and they say, "but I posted about that last week, didn't you read it?" that's when I know that I have no time to myself these days.
C) say that I survived the birthday party for my youngest who is now Six. Insanity led us to host the party for 8 kids at Chuck E. Cheese's. They really need to market for adults there. Perhaps "I survived Chuck E. Cheese's" t-shirts or shots of vodka or something.
and D) say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc. to all the folks out in LJ and blogland because if you get a card or gift from me...it's gonna be a freaking miracle!

Sure we've had the boys in our house since the first week of October. But what made me feel like I've been channeling my own parents? Oh, the boys have been off school yesterday and today due to the weather. And the weather we've experienced the past two days has not been that bad. I went to school on worse days. So I have this "kids these days have it easy" thought bubble bouncing in my head lately.
Okay, I'm sure that the reason for the no school is probably legit. But since I grew up in a more northern latitude...I tend to dismiss it. The roads were perfectly fine today. We've been to the doctor, the bank, McDonald's and now, my office...with not one issue.
Yep, they're here with me at the office. Right now, they're playing in the snow. Earlier, they were watching Harry Potter in the conference room.
It's kinda fun to have them here...but a bit stressful as well. Fortunately there's only about 8 of us in the office today so they aren't bothering anyone so that's good.
Back to the grind...
